Why I Do Photography: I absolutely love it! It is a true pleasure for me, and wholly satisfying from beginning to end. I took my first photography class nearly twenty years ago, and have been taking photos ever since—the more I do it, the more I love it. There is something unique about photography, perhaps about creating any art, but the world passes by differently from behind a camera. You get to step back from life for a while and simply watch. It becomes literally focused, enhanced, heightened. It is the nature of the job to be present and pay attention.

My Style: I specialize in photojournalistic photography; the pictures are taken unobtrusively to tell the story of the occasion. I stand outside of what is happening to capture it without interfering. At an event I try and make the formal portraits easy and fun, and the rest of the time my role is to step back and just capture life as it happens. However, I have been known to get a group of people to smile for the camera from time to time!

My Equipment: I use a Canon 20D digital SLR camera, and have multiple camera bodies so I am always prepared. I prefer to shoot digitally because of the control that it affords over the pictures, and the ease of reproduction and sharing for the client. I am able to shoot all of the photos in color and then select a set to recreate in black and white or sepia. It is also much easier to create backups so images are less likely to get lost or damaged.

I am available to photograph weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, engagement photos, or any other event or portrait. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments—I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you.
